Hi everyone! How are you all today? It’s looking a bit gloomy outside, but I’m cheering myself up by writing about shiny, pretty things!
I like to change up my everyday makeup container every month to make sure all of my makeup gets its fair share of use, and it helps me decide if I really like something or not. Well, this month you may have noticed a slight theme in my lipsticks. Yep, they’re mostly all neutrals! How is the pop of colour queen picking neutral tones for her lips????
The answer is mainly because I like wearing a neutral lip and playing with colour more on my eyes. Yes, I still love my reds and plum shades, but they mainly have their say in Autumn and Winter. I want to show my neutral lippies a bit more love, and the 12 storage containers mean I can pick 12 very different tones and finishes so it’s not like I’m wearing the same shade all month!
Bare Minerals Gen Nude- Love is a gorgeous rosey peach tone. It is on the glossier side but I love this formula because it’s so hydrating. The air con is on at work at the moment, so my lips are drying out constantly. This one will be amazing at keeping them healthy looking.
MAC- Velvet Teddy is a pretty matte lipstick. I bought this this month and I love it. It’s such a flattering warm neutral tone, and looks lovely under the glossy lip stain I’ll be mentioning in a bit.
Urban Decay Revolution- Rapture is the darkest tone here, but it’s a lovely flattering shade. Again, it’s glossy, so great for work, but it will look really lovely with a more neutral eye look.
MAC- Girl About the Town is my only bright this month, but I love this shade. It’s so flattering!
Clinique Pop- Love Pop is a subtle, soft dark pink neutral. I got this in a goody-bag when I bought two Clinique products at Boots. It’s a really lovely shade.
Younique Opulence- Loaded is a lovely chocolate brown lipstick. It looks like it could be on it’s last legs since it’s melted a fair bit. But I’m trying to use it up this month because I love the colour. I’m not ready to throw it away yet!
Smashbox Legendary- First Time is one of my favourite peachy neutrals. It’s a bit pinker than Velvet teddy, and slightly glossier. It’s so pretty!
Clinique Pop- Bare Pop was my other free lipstick from Clinique. This shade is more of a traditional nude. It adds enough pink to not look like a beige lipstick, and it’s really flattering.
Smashbox Legendary- Stylist is a more pinky nude. It’s one of those your lips but better shades; it’s gorgeous!
MAC Versicolour Stain- Long Live the Night is more of a gloss than a stain; it doesn’t completely dry down. I’ve had this for ages but haven’t really used it before now. I tend to wear this over the matte lipsticks to give them a more glossy look. The formula isn’t too sticky and is really comfortable to wear.
Charlotte Tilbury- Stoned Rose is another true nude, but has some lovely warm undertones to stop it looking flat. This was my first Charlotte Tibury purchase and has survived many a purge. It’s such a flattering shade.
Nars Audacious- Jane is a pretty apricot neutral. I love wearing this with bronze eyeshadow. I love the Audacious line of lipsticks, they are so lovely and look amazing.
So those are all of the neutral lipsticks for this months makeup looks. I’m sure that I’ll be popping a few looks on Instagram if anyone would like to see lip swatches of any of these shades.
Have a lovely day guys, and take care!
