2019 Yearly Favourites: Lips

IMG_20191213_135817.jpg

Hi everyone. How are you today?

I’m back with part 2 of my yearly favourites. I’ve narrowed this one down to all things to do with lips.

Now 2019, was really the year that I discovered liquid lipsticks and used them quite regularly. As a lot of you know, I suffer from dry skin, and one of the worst areas was my lips. However 2019 was the year that my lips gave themselves a kick and sorted themselves out! So I was actually able to give my small liquid lip collection a bit of a fair shot. And some of them have actually made it into this list.

So before I ramble any further, let’s get onto my favourite lip products from the past year.

Blistex Mediplus

I’ve mentioned this little gem in a fair few favourites lists in the past. It is just the most amazing little lip balm for dry, chapped lips. Yeah, it really hurts when you first apply it, but in the words of one of my favourite childhood movies “It has to hurt if it has to heal!” This balm really works and my lips always look smooth and juicy after using it for a few days. I’ve gone through countless tubs over the years. It’s one of the few that actually works for me.

ELF Brown Sugar Lip Scrub

I’ve used a couple of lip scrubs over the year, and two of them made it to my list. I hated the Younique one (it didn’t really do much for my lips, but it’s probably meant for those with normal lips rather than my dry lips from hell). I need something that really scrubs the dead cells away! One of the ones that really worked wonders was this elf one. It smells and tastes amazing, and it also left my lips feeling smooth with no weird dry patches popping up through my lipsticks.

Younique Stiff Upper Lip Stain

These had to make the list! They truly are amazing lip stains. They last all day and the colours are stunning. I love the darker shades such as Sultry and Sucker-punched. They look so beautiful, and I love the fact that I can apply them at the start of the day and not need to touch up at all through the day.

Bare Minerals Under Over Lip Liners

This came in one of the only PR boxes I ever received a few years ago, and I really appreciate Bare Minerals for choosing me to try these products out before the launch. I have two nude lip liners from this collection and they are beautiful. They feel so creamy and they’re a perfect base for my neutral liquid lipsticks. The shade I tend to reach for more is Attitude because the only time that I’ll reach for lip liner is with darker lip products, just to lock them in place, and this is such a beautiful nude.

Younique Splash Liquid Lipstick

I only kept a few shades from this collection because there are only a few that I would consider as favourites. Some of the super dark shades would bleed and smudge on me. However some of these didn’t, and that’s why I love them. I still wear the shade Sentimental, which is a beautiful plum nude. It stays put all day and doesn’t dry out my lips. It’s gorgeous!

Jeffree Star Velour Lip Scrub

I love this for the same reason as the ELF one; you feel like you’re getting a proper scrub that removes all nastiness from your lips. I have the Candy necklace flavour, and it tastes amazing. The amount of product is huge too, which means that this will probably last me a fair while. I’ve used this since October and I’ve barely scraped the surface.

MAC Versicolour Stains

Okay, these are not a stain in the same way as the Younique ones. To be honest, I would call these a very thin lip gloss. I tend to wear these over the more nude liquid lipsticks when my lips are having a very dry day. The shade Long Live the Night is beautiful and adds a gorgeous subtle shimmer to a matte lip. They don’t last long, but I actually don’t mind keeping this in my purse to top up the glossy effect.

Younique Little Hottie Lip Gloss

If you love a plumping lip gloss, you will love these. The shades are stunning and look so beautiful with most makeup looks. They don’t plump up too much, but they will add a subtle plumpness to lips. Mine are on the thinner side, so I do wear these on occasion to plump them up a bit. I love the shade Jenna on my more neutral makeup days.

Younique Opulence Lipsticks

And we’re onto the final Younique lip product on this list! And this is probably my favourite item from Younique. The Oppulence lipsticks are beautiful. They are so glossy and hydrating, but they leave a subtle stain on the lips that lasts all day. I still wear the shades Loaded and Affluent; they’re just perfect nude shades. I love them!

Jeffree Star The Glosses

These just made it into the cut of my favourites. I have 2 shades in Jeffree’s lip glosses and I love them both. I tend to wear a light coat over his liquid lips and they look beautiful. They create a fullness to the lips that’s very hard to create. They don’t feel too sticky and I love the scent in them. I do use the Shane Glossin’ shade the most, but I do love Crystal Climax over the darker shades. They’re just so pretty.

L’Oreal Color Riche Ultra Matte Lipticks: The Nudes

I got rid of a lot of my L’Oreal lipsticks years ago. The smell is awful! However, they must have changed this with newer lip products, because the last few that I’ve tried haven’t had that gross chemically smell. The nude collection is beautiful; particularly No Lies. I almost wore this one for my friend’s wedding but ended up going for a liquid lip. These do last a while and I would call them more of a semi-matte than a true matte, making them more hydrating.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

Okay, I went from owning two of these to twenty in a few months! I reckon it’s safe to call these a favourite! If you want a liquid lip that doesn’t feel heavy, lasts all day and won’t apply streaky, get these. There is a reason why they are a world famous formula. I have loved every shade that I’ve tried, and I can’t wait to own more. I’m actually going to wear Unicorn Blood for my work night out tonight, which I will be getting ready for as soon as this post is written!

L’Oreal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipsticks

And last but not least, we have the OG liquid lip that made me fall in love with liquid lipsticks. This formula is so thin and feels more like a stain, however they dry down to a matte finish that will last for hours. I love the shade I Rule, it’s a stunning chocolate nude with a hint of red. It looks stunning. The whole collection is beautiful, but I love this shade!

And those are all of my lip favourites. I will be here next week with my favourite topic (and it’ll probably be the longest), eyes. There will be mascaras, palettes, singles, liners- the lot! I can’t wait!

Have a lovely day guys, and take care!
