Top Fantasy Series that I Love

Hi everyone! How are you today? First off, I would like to wish every single one of you a happy new year. I wonder what 2020 has in store for us.

Today I wanted to take a step away from Beauty and talk about something that I enjoy doing on a daily basis, and that is reading. Now, I will read almost anything, however my favourite genre of books is Fantasy, and I love ones that extend over several books. So today I wanted to share some of my favourites, just in case you guys, like me need a break from all things beauty once in a while.

The Banned and the Banished:

James Clemens

I read this series a few years ago now, and absolutely love it. This story follows a young girl called Elena who becomes the only woman able to wield fire. Like a lot of fantasy series, there a prophecies written about this girl and how she could either destroy or save the world. I love all the different characters in this world. It’s one of those series that you can really latch onto certain characters and really enjoy their growth through each book. There are four books in the series, and they will really hook you into the story!

Favourite Book in Series: Wit’ch War

The Sword of Truth:

Terry Goodkind

If you want something that will keep you occupied for a few years, definitely give these a go! This is a lengthy series! It follows the story of Richard Cypher as he becomes the true owner of the Sword of truth, and he is told that only he can stop this evil man from taking over the world (this really is the simplest way I can describe this series without spoliers). Each book is amazing! It is a love story, it has action in it and some absolutely badass female characters. There are 11 books in the original sword of truth story, however the story did continue into a few other series. However, I like to see the story as finishing at Confessor, although I know that The Omen Machine does follow on from Confessor. One day, I may read on, but I like how Confessor ended things.

Favourite Book in Series: Faith of the Fallen

A Court of Thorns and Roses:

Sara J Maas

Of course I was going to include Queen Maas in this list! This trilogy is amazing! If you want a tale with strong female characters, this story is brilliant. It deals with realistic relationships, PTSD, magic, trauma. They are amazing. The story is a very loose retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and follows the adventures of Feyre after she is taken into the land of the Fae after she has unknowlingly killed a Fae. There is a reason why fans of these novels get so obsessed, and if you ever join The Court of Sara J Maas on Facebook, you will see why ever fan gets worked up on certain issues in this series.

Favourite Book in Series: A Court of Mist and Fury

The Troy Game:

Sara Douglass

This was one of the first series that I read that got me hooked into historical fantasy….. if that’s even a thing! It got me hooked into the world of Gods and Fae. The story follows a group of people from Ancient Troy after their downfall and they attempt the settle in Britain. There is a huge story of betrayal and the Minotaur fits in there somehow. There is black magic and Gods, Goddesses, reincarnation! It sounds a mess, but trust me, it’s amazing! I love them!

Favourite Book in Series: Darkwitch Rising

The Black Magician:

Trudi Canavan

It was my sister who got me into this series after she had read the first book. It follows the story of a young girl from the slums of the city surrounded the magician’s Guild who finds out she can actually wield magic. The story then follows her journey into the Guild and how it affects her relationships with her family and friends. It’s such a good trilogy. Again, this continues into further books which I haven’t got round to reading yet!

Favourite Book in Series: The High Lord

Throne of Glass:

Sara J Maas

Sara makes it onto my list again! I love her books, and this series is amazing! This story follows Celaena and her journey as an assassin in this world ruled by humans and fae. There is a huge war between good and evil happening at the same time and so many amazing characters, especially in the later books. This is a series where I do have to tell people to read beyond the first book. It is a little childish compares to the later books, but it does pick up and the story becomes huge! Definitely give it a try. These stories will make you care about every character and it will break you by the final book!

Favourite Book in Series: Queen of Shadows/ Tower of Dawn/ Kingdom of Ash

I’m going to leave it there, because there are honestly so many series of books that I could include in this list and make it super long. If you would like to see more book related lists, or reviews, let me know and I will do them more often.

Let me know which series you really enjoy, and I may add them to my list of to-reads.

Have a lovely day guys, and take care.
