Hi everyone, how are you? I hope that you’re all safe during this really strange time.
No matter where in the world you are, this virus is affecting everyone, and here in the UK we have been advised to stay at home and only leave our house for necessary shopping and exercise. And if it can’t be avoided, work.
I work for the NHS, so I do have to leave the house more often than most, however on my days off, I am following the guidelines from the government as much as I am able to. Staying inside can get boring, however I have attempted to find some activities to keep myself busy.
When you have no need to leave the house, it give you a little bit more of an opportunity to play. I do try and keep my makeup more neutral for work these days, and my days off are some of the few times I get to play with colour. I have seen posts of people playing with rhinestones and being truly creative. I haven’t done that yet…. but I might one day. I just love reaching for the shades that aren’t getting as much love these days such as my blues and pinks.
I can honestly see a lot of blogs coming back as time goes on. Writing and photography are one of the things that keep my mind active, and I have an outlet to share any thoughts that I have. I try to keep my blog a fun and happy place, but as time goes on, and in respects to the job that I do, I may share a few other things on the blog that I think people will benefit from knowing.
Cross stitiching is something that I normally do on cold nights in the Winter. I find it really therapeutic, especially if I have a big project. I am currently doing a John Clayton Elegant Ladies design. It is going to take me a long time to complete, but time is what we’ve got plenty of at the moment. I know the current picture looks a bit weird at the moment, but once the pattern is complete, it will hopefully all come together.
The government’s guidelines say that we can leave for essential shopping or exercise, so I make sure that I am going out for an hour every day to get some fresh air. Luckily there are a fair few local walks near me that are really beautiful. No matter how many times I go to Rainton Meadows, I still find it peaceful.
I have started a bullet journal again for reading. I wanted a place to keep track of all the challenges I was taking part in on Facebook. I’m going to start one for the year again once that notebook arrives, but I’ve really enjoyed getting creative again in my journaling.
The final activity that I’m going to pop on here is one of my favourites. Since the lockdown began, I have been reading a lot! I can honestly sit in my bedroom or the garden for hours and read a book. At the moment I’m reading ‘Comply or Die’ by Tony Hutchinson. I’m really enjoying it so far, and no doubt I’ll have read several more by the end of the month!
What are you doing to keep yourself busy during the Lock Down? Have a lovely day guys, and take care.
Please stay safe.
